Twilight images are taken in the short window just after sunset, when the sky turns deep blue and the house glows from the inside. Pools, alfresco areas, garden lighting and water reflections all come alive, and the twilight frame usually becomes the hero image on realestate.com.au and Domain.

A real twilight shoot means our photographer is on site at the property through that window. The window glow, the pool and garden lighting, and the reflections are all captured on the night, not added afterwards. If the sunset itself is underwhelming, with flat grey cloud or a washed-out sky, we replace the sky with a natural dusk sky in editing. Everything else in the frame stays real.

Every twilight set is professionally edited and delivered as high-resolution JPEGs with the rest of your listing media.

Real Twilight vs Day to Dusk

Shot On Site or Edited Afterwards

Both give a listing an evening look, but they're made in different ways, and buyers can usually tell the difference in the hero image.

Real twilight ($80 add-on): Our photographer shoots the property on site after sunset. The interior lights, pool and garden lighting, and the reflections on water and glass are all real. If the sunset is dull, we replace the sky in editing. This is the best choice for hero images, pools, waterfront and prestige homes.

Day to Dusk ($30 per image): We take a photo shot during the day and edit it into an evening scene, with a replacement sky, window glow and evening tone added in post-production. There's no second visit and the weather doesn't matter, so it suits tight budgets, simple facades and listings already on the market.

Day to Dusk images, and twilight images with a replaced sky, are labelled in the file name so you always know which photos have been digitally altered.

Twilight works best on the same day as your photography session. We book the day shoot for late afternoon and stay through sunset, so there's no second visit. Queensland has no daylight saving, so sunset ranges from about 5pm in winter to about 6:45pm in midsummer, and we'll time your shoot to that day's sunset.

Before we arrive, turn on every light inside and out, open the blinds, switch on the pool, spa and garden lights, and move cars off the driveway. The same checklist we use to prepare your home for real estate photography applies.
